3 Places You Must Visit In Prince George & Nearby

Updated: Nov 27, 2019

Welcome to my Second blog, starting from myself I am still a newcomer because I came in September intake for my higher studies in Prince George, BC. Being a student, I love to travel in free time, and I know everyone likes to travel and explore new places for leisure and sports. I always love to write blogs and share information wherever I go.

The first place which I visited in Canada or went with my friends was Tim Horton's which is being made a culture now for every Indian who lands in Canada. I always had an interest in writing blogs from my last job in India in the culinary industry. I love to share the information which I get and its quite good to share it as that will help the newcomers who are coming to British Columbia, Canada.

The thee places which I chose to share in my blog are:

  1. Ancient Forest

  2. Purden Lake Provincial Park

  3. Barkerville (Historic Town & Park)

I chose these three places because there are many reasons, like the history behind it, greenery, culture, hiking and trekking, and the major reason will be the mesmerizing view of nature and locality. It is being called Beautiful British Columbia and it's true.

“Nature's beauty is a gift that cultivates appreciation and gratitude. By- Louie Schwartzberg”

Ancient Forest

The Ancient forest is located 113 km east from Prince George off highway 16 and its a hidden gem of beauty where you can capture a lot of beautiful memories. The image above available above shows a wooden track which is going all the way up to a waterfall located at the top of the trek to straight to the big trees which are a natural attraction. The forest is maintained by the government and by volunteerism as the wooden track is been made with the help of volunteerism. The location is best for trekking with family and friends and there is no kind of fee that is being charged for admission in the forest but there are no food joints nearby the forest, so people bring their food. As per my own experience, I remember we purchased the food and pop drinks and we were almost out of fuel while coming back to Prince George, PS- don't go on trips without a full tank.

It is famous for the big trees which are in the forest and because of its wooden trail and waterfall. Every age group person can visit the forest and enjoy the fresh cold air and the beauty created by the god.

Purden Lake Provincial Park

Settled in the moving mountains east of Prince George, Purden Lake Provincial Park, on the north shore of Purden Lake, is ruled by the Cariboo Mountains toward the south and the McGregor scope of the Rockies toward the north. Thickly forested upland with open territories close to the lakefront gives charming surroundings to a shoreline walk, swimming or plotting for the lake's occupant rainbow trout. There are a lot of activities do here like fishing, family gatherings and much more to do. The feeling of sitting without shoes on is a feeling that can't be expressed. PS- try it once. There is no admission fee to enter the lake area and if you have a boat, then its heaven for you and from my personal experience I saw people from all ages were enjoying when I visited there and the best thing about the lake is the clear water and fishing experience.

It is located 63 km east of Prince George and comes on the way to the ancient forest, so you can visit both places on a single day.

Barkerville

British Columbia's focal inside has been significantly molded by gold gratitude to a straightforward, common laborers English miner named William 'Billy' Barker who, in 1862, led a twenty-year, multi-billion-dollar modern insurgency that truly helped fabricate a Province. It is located 187 km from Prince George and the route to the village a lot of mesmerizing views. The village was named after Billy Barker, and the village has a lot of attractive shops to see. One important fact there is no cell phone service available in the town, but they have Wi-Fi facility available and there is a fee of $16.95 plus taxes per person and free entry for students, the pets are prohibited in the town. There are also some gold mines which are being closed now which people like to see in that area and the best thing about the town is the style of shops which are there as it will make you think like you are back in the 1900s.
